Teacher - Amy Hamilton

Ms. Amy Hamilton has been with Crown of Life Lutheran School for nine years.  She has nine years of experience teaching first, second, and third grades.  Ms. Hamilton has her Teacher Educator Certificate Generalist early child through sixth grade, Teacher Educator Certificate Generalist forth through eighth grade, and ESL Certificate early childhood through eighth grade.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies, a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in teacher leadership, and is a Lutheran Teaching Commissioned Minister.  Ms. Hamilton is an active member at Crown of Life Lutheran Church.

Ms. Hamilton likes visiting her parents in California and loves her pets. While not teaching she enjoys traveling, movies, hiking, and camping.

Topics Covered:

  • Reading:  decoding unknown words using common spelling patterns, determining the meaning of new words in text, increasing fluency, making predications, asking questions, making inferences, describing a plot, the characters and setting, re-telling and summarizing the text, making text-to-self, text-to-world, and text-to-text connections
  • Language Arts: using correct writing conventions and grammar, using the writing process to compose different types of writing pieces (personal narrative, opinion, informational, how-to, and research)
  • Social Studies: learning the responsibilities of citizenship, concepts of time and chronology, the purpose of maps and their features, goods and services, the importance of work, important American and Texas symbols of people, holidays and family traditions
  • Religion focuses on God’s word through daily devotionals, weekly Bible lessons, memory versus, and weekly chapel
