Teacher - Betsy Rentschler

Miss Pogue is a recent graduate of Valparaiso University with a BS in Elementary Education and Special Education. During her practicum experiences she taught Kindergarten, 1st Grade, 2nd Grade, 3rd Grade and 8th Grade as well as working with special needs students.
 

1st Grade Scope & Sequence:
  • Language Arts:  Phonics, Grammar, Sentence Structure, Expressive Writing, Guided Reading, Comprehension, Accuracy, Fluency, Vocabulary, Spelling and Manuscript Handwriting
  • Math:  Place Value, Grouping, Adding, Subtracting, Word Problems, Shapes, Time and Money
  • Science:  Energy, Plants & Animals, Patterns in Space, The Nature of Science, Hands On Experiments and STEM Skills
  • Social Studies:  Transportation, Patriotism, Rights & Responsibilities, Communities, Goods & Services and Money &Trade
  • Learning Centers
  • Bible:  Stories, Prayers, Songs, Books of the Bible, Weekly Memory Verses and Weekly Chapel
  • Enrichment Classes:  Computer, Music, Art, PE and Spanish
