Sixth Grade

Homeroom Teacher - Scott Hamre

Mr. Hamre received a Bachelor’s Degree in History and Physical Education with a Coaching Endorsement from Concordia University, Seward, Nebraska and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University, Austin, Texas.  He has over 15 years of teaching experience and, as the child of an Army officer, he has lived all over the world enabling him to bring a unique perspective to the classroom.  Mr. Hamre teaches Middle School Social Studies and 6th Grade Bible classes in addition to serving as the COLLS Athletic Director.   

6th Grade Scope & Sequence:
  • Language Arts:  Direct & Indirect Objects, Commas, Plot Development, Characterization, Setting, Conflict, Point of View, Theme, Structure & Elements of Drama, Mood and  Identifying & Avoiding Plagiarism
  • Math:  Expressions & Equations, Number Systems, Ratios & Proportional Relationships, Geometric Concepts and Statistics & Probability
  • Physical Science:  The Nature of Matter, The Periodic Table of the Elements, Chemical Reactions, Sound Waves, Electromagnetic Spectrum, Energy, Forces, Motion and Interactions 
  • Social Studies:  The Geographer’s World, Physical Geography, Asia, China, Russia, Europe, Africa, America, Australia and Flags of the World
  • Bible:  Prayers, Daily Devotional, Bible Study, Weekly Memory Verses and Weekly Chapel
  • Enrichment Classes:  Computer, Music, Art, PE and Spanish
